April 2010 Notes
Congo Action Now
Democratic Republic of Congo Committee
April 25, 2010
Present: Coleen Houlihan, Kelley Ready, Jean Miller, Suzanne Bas Davis, Erin McCabe, Peggy Barrett, Pat Aron
Congo Action Now held a brief meeting prior to our pot luck with WILPF on April 25, 2010. We continued discussions of our open house at Manuel’s Barbershop in Brookline and we set a date (THE DATE WAS LATER CHANGED TO SUNDAY, JUNE 27, FROM 3:00 TO 6:00 FOLLOWING COLEEN’S DISCUSSION WITH MANUEL). People are working on outreach and on developing the program schedule for the event. We will help Samba cook Congolese food so we won’t need to identify a caterer.
A discussion of our email followed. CAN has an email address on our website where people may contact us. We haven’t had a system for regularly checking for email. Peggy volunteered to take responsibility for checking our email (thanks, Peggy).
CANers then joined Boston WILPF members for a delicious pot luck dinner. CAN presented a program of readings about the DRC that WILPFers found to be informative and inspiring.
The next meeting of Congo Action Now will be on Sunday, May 23, 2010, at 3:00 at Pat’s house in Jamaica Plain.
